Upon logging into D2L today, I saw the word of the day and had to click on it:
Word of the Day for Monday October 31, 2005
immolate \IM-uh-layt\, transitive verb:
1. To sacrifice; to offer in sacrifice; to kill as a sacrificial victim.
2. To kill or destroy, often by fire.
What have I gained, that I no longer immolate a bull to Jove, or to Neptune, or a mouse to Hecate . . . if I quake at opinion, the public opinion, as we call it; or at the threat of assault, or contumely, or bad neighbors, or poverty, or mutilation, or at the rumor of revolution, or of murder?
--Ralph Waldo Emerson, Essays and English traits
In the city of Bhopal, police used water canon to thwart a group of Congress workers who were on the point of immolating themselves.
--Peter Popham, "Gandhi critics are expelled by party," Independent, May 21, 1999
Bowls of honey at the room's center drew random insects to immolate themselves against a nearby bug zapper.

It's been 2 years today since I started my blog. How time flies, eh? Not that I update nearly as much as I did at the beginning, but then again I really haven't felt the need to.
Advising went okay, I went to the new advisor and he basically just removed my hold without going through any of the usually administrative crap that I've always had to do in the past. I also got electrive credit for my IT minor for that Java class I took several years ago that I hated so badly. Didn't see that one coming, but it makes for a light load in the spring. I only have one more class to transfer credit for, then register for spring, and I can apply to graduate.
Work has sure been sucking a lot lately but the store looks nice since the remodel. We had to cancel our roadtrip this weekend and are now LANing at Ralph's instead. No definite plans for Thanksgiving yet though...
Andrea and I have been fighting off and on a lot lately but it hasn't been over anything too majorly important so I guess that's good.
I finally feel a bit better now that this whole advising nonsense is behind me. I was really quite stressed for a while there, though. Not much else to say right now... Which is good because this keyboard is really sticky and I'm afraid to know what the substance is that caused that.

So I'm sitting here trying to study for my IT test this afternoon... Not that I really should need to but I may as well since I'm in the computer lab anyway.
My physics books usually have some sort of table of symbols or physical constants on the first page.
For all the struggling I do in understanding those first few pages of my physics texts, I opened the IT book to the first page to find the heading:
"How To Use This Book"
I was under the impression that, I don't know, you READ it?
But maybe I'm wrong. Someone please let me know.

That last post was #120. Wow. That's how many credits at UW-W I have under my belt, and it's also the number that was associated with the so-called "Poopy o'Clock" way back in the day. I wonder when I hit 100?
Anyway, I just finished a take home Mechanics test a little while ago, and Andrea is still working on her history paper so I had a little free time.
I did a little bit of updating to the site. Both the "Schedule" and "Links" pages have been updated (and damn did they need it). Still grappling with the "Pictures" page, it doesn't seem to like to actually load images.
You'll also notice that I removed the "Views" page entirely. There is a reason for this: I never posted to it. True, I have many views and I was gonna write some essays on them, but frankly I never really got the time. I thought I would but then spring semester happened. So much other stuff gets in the way that I decided it was better just to remove the page. Besides, most of you either know my views or could just as easily ask me about them.
On a much sadder note, Aaron has been dead for 4 years today. I still think about it. I've come to accept it by now, but it's still... difficult, I think is the best word for it. I still remember that weekend far too vividly. Hopefully I will get to see the Minors this weekend if at all possible. It's been too long since I've been over there and now is a good time to go.
Anyway, looking forward to not having homework this weekend. Maybe I'll actually get some quality WoW time. Later.
